JESUS, OUR REST

Scripture: “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28 (NKJV)

Jesus did not promise that life would be free from responsibilities, but He promised that the weary could find rest in Him. His invitation is to everyone who has been exhausted by life’s burdens, disappointed by unanswered prayers, overwhelmed by responsibilities or worn out by the struggle to make things work. Notice that Jesus did not say, “Come to religion,” “Come to a system,” or “Come when you have figured everything out.” He said, “Come to Me.” This is because rest is not merely a place you find; it is a relationship you enter. Jesus is not only the giver of rest; He is the source of our rest.

One reason many people remain restless is that they are trying to carry life’s burdens without depending on the One who can sustain them. We carry the pressure to succeed, the fear of failure, the weight of people’s expectations and the uncertainty of tomorrow. Even in prayer, we sometimes struggle to surrender what we have already committed to God. But Jesus invites us to exchange the burden of self-reliance for the confidence of divine care. When Christ becomes our rest, we can work without being consumed by worry, wait without being destroyed by impatience and face uncertainty without losing our peace. The presence of problems does not have to mean the absence of rest.

Today, make Jesus your resting place. Do not wait for every storm to cease before allowing your soul to be still. Bring Him your questions, surrender your fears and trust Him with the things beyond your control. The world may offer temporary escape, but Jesus offers lasting fellowship. Circumstances may change, people may disappoint you, and plans may take longer than expected, but your soul can remain anchored in Christ. You were never created to carry the weight of life alone. Come to Jesus daily, depend on His grace and learn to live from the security of His love. When Jesus is your rest, life’s burdens may remain, but you no longer have to carry them alone.

I Declare: Jesus Christ is my rest, my peace and my confidence. I release every burden of fear, anxiety and self-reliance into His hands. I receive grace to walk through life’s demands without losing my peace. My heart is anchored in His love, my strength is renewed by His grace, and my soul is settled in His presence.

Ignite Quote: “When Jesus becomes your rest, you stop depending on a trouble-free life to experience a peaceful soul.”
