Scripture: “Rise, take your journey, and cross over the River Arnon. Look, I have given into your hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land. Begin to possess it, and engage him in battle.”Deuteronomy 2:24 (NKJV)
There is a time to wait, and there is a time to rise. In Deuteronomy 2:24, God gave Israel a clear instruction: “Rise, take your journey.” They had received the promise, but they still had to move towards its fulfilment. God had given them the land, but they had to cross over and possess it. This teaches us that a promise is not an invitation to irresponsibility; it is a call to action. You cannot remain where you are and expect to possess what lies ahead.
Notice the progression in God’s instruction: rise, journey, cross over and possess. Every instruction demanded action. Israel had to leave the familiar, confront resistance and move into new territory. Sometimes, what stands between us and our next level is not the absence of God’s promise but our unwillingness to take the necessary steps. Fear, procrastination, excuses and comfort can keep people from possessing what God has placed within their reach. Faith is not just believing that God can do something; it is also being willing to move when He says move.
Today, God is calling you to rise above excuses and take responsibility for your future. There are opportunities to pursue, gifts to develop, assignments to fulfil and territories to occupy. Do not allow the fear of opposition to keep you from moving forward. Israel had to engage Sihon in battle, but God had already assured them of His provision. Take the journey, make the move, do the work and trust God for the outcome. You have stayed long enough at the place of preparation; it is time to move towards possession.
I Declare: I receive grace to rise, move forward and possess what God has prepared for me. I overcome fear, reject passivity and take bold steps towards my God-given purpose.
