Scripture: “Get up and cross the Arnon Gorge. Look, I am giving you the land of King Sihon of Heshbon, the Amorite, and I will give you victory over him. Attack him and begin to occupy the land.” Deuteronomy 2:24 (NLT)
There are victories you will never experience until you are willing to confront what stands in your way. God had already promised Israel victory over Sihon, but He still instructed them to attack him and begin to occupy the land. The promise was settled in God’s counsel, but possession required their participation. This teaches us an important principle: divine promises do not excuse human responsibility.
Sometimes, the greatest obstacle between where you are and where God is taking you is the very thing you have been avoiding. It could be fear, procrastination, a difficult decision, a wrong habit, an unresolved issue or an intimidating challenge. You cannot conquer what you continually refuse to confront. Avoidance may provide temporary comfort, but it cannot produce lasting victory. There comes a time when you must rise, face the challenge and take the necessary steps forward.
However, confrontation is not about fighting everyone or engaging in unnecessary battles. It is about having the courage to address what stands in the way of your God-given assignment. Face your fears with faith, confront limitations with discipline, and address obstacles with wisdom. Remember, Israel was not told to attack because victory was uncertain; they were told to attack because God had already given them the land. Your confidence must come from God’s Word, not the size of the opposition.
I Declare: I receive courage and wisdom to confront every obstacle standing between me and my God-given destiny. I will not retreat in fear; I will rise in faith and possess what God has prepared for me.
