Scripture: “The vice-regents and governors got together to find some old scandal or skeleton in Daniel’s life that they could use against him, but they couldn’t dig up anything. He was totally exemplary and trustworthy. They could find no evidence of negligence or misconduct….” Daniel 6.4-5.MSG
Character is an asset because it determines the value and sustainability of everything else you carry. Your gifts, education, position, connections, and resources may create opportunities, but character determines whether people can trust you with them. A person of character carries an invisible wealth that cannot be bought with money or easily destroyed by accusations.
Like any valuable asset, character is built through consistent investment. Every time you tell the truth, keep your word, resist compromise, honour God, and do what is right when nobody is watching, you are increasing the value of your life. Joseph’s integrity preserved his destiny; Daniel’s consistency established his influence. Their character became an asset that God could build upon.
Protect your character more than you protect your possessions. Money can be lost and recovered; opportunities can disappear and return; but once trust is seriously damaged, rebuilding it can take years. Your greatest asset may not be what is in your hands, but what is in your heart.
I Declare: I decree and declare that I am building a life of integrity, faithfulness, and honour. My character will increase my value, strengthen my influence, and make me trustworthy for greater assignments.
