One of the greatest blessings of having God as your Shepherd is the assurance that you do not have to figure out life all by yourself. He does not merely provide for you; He leads you. The Shepherd knows the way, understands the terrain and sees what lies ahead. His leadership is an expression of His love and care. You may not always understand where He is taking you, but you can trust the One who is leading you.
Notice that the Scripture says, “He leads me beside the still waters.” God is intentional about where He takes His own. He does not lead you only into opportunities and accomplishments; He also leads you into places of refreshment, restoration and peace. Sometimes, the most spiritual thing you can do is slow down, listen to His voice and allow Him to redirect your steps. Not every open door is your door, and not every available opportunity is an instruction from God. You need His leading, not merely your ambition.
The challenge is that many people want God to bless their decisions without allowing Him to direct their steps. But the Shepherd’s responsibility is to lead, and the sheep’s responsibility is to follow. His direction may sometimes challenge your preferences, interrupt your plans or take you through unfamiliar territory. Nevertheless, when God is leading, you can move with confidence. You do not have to know every detail of the journey when you know the One directing your path.
I Declare: The Lord is my Shepherd, and I will not lose my way. My steps are ordered by His wisdom, and He leads me into places of peace, purpose and fulfilment.
